About the player
Niilo Kujasalo came through the HJK Helsinki academy, joining the club's youth setup in 2015 and staying on until 2021, when he stepped up to the reserve side, Klubi 04. His path to first-team football at HJK stalled at cup level: across the 2022 and 2023 seasons he made four appearances in the Finnish League Cup but never featured in the Veikkausliiga, the Suomen Cup or European competition. A loan to Kokkolan Pallo-Veikot in the Ykkönen in 2023 gave him a fuller taste of senior football, with 25 league appearances there before he returned to HJK.
Kujasalo did win a medal with HJK, lifting the Finnish League Cup in 2023, but regular first-team minutes came only after he left the club. A free transfer took him to IFK Mariehamn in November 2024, where he signed a two-year contract for the 2025 season and made 27 appearances.
That form led to a fresh move: on 24 December 2025, KuPS announced his signing from IFK Mariehamn for an undisclosed fee, with a two-year deal including a third-year option running from 1 January 2026. The left-footed midfielder has represented Finland at every youth level from U15 through to U21.
