About the player
Nick Viergever earned three caps for the Netherlands, all in friendly matches. His debut came in a 4–2 defeat to Belgium in August 2012, and he had already been named in the provisional 36-man squad for that summer's Euro 2012, though he did not make the final cut. His remaining caps followed years later, against Italy and Morocco in 2017.
At club level, the defender built his career through a string of moves within the Eredivisie and beyond. He came through at Sparta Rotterdam before a transfer to AZ Alkmaar, where he won the KNVB Cup in the 2012–13 season. A subsequent move took him to Ajax, where he reached the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2017 and won the Eerste Divisie with the club's reserve side, Jong Ajax, in 2018. He then joined PSV Eindhoven on a free transfer, lifting the Johan Cruyff Shield in 2021, before a spell in Germany with SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
Viergever returned to the Netherlands in 2022, joining FC Utrecht on a free transfer, where he wore the number 24 shirt and took on the captaincy.
