About the player
Oliver Valaker Edvardsen's career took a decisive turn on 31 January 2025, when Ajax paid a reported €3.0 million to sign the Norwegian forward from Go Ahead Eagles, tying him to a contract until June 2028. He had joined the Dutch club in July 2022 for a fee of around €220,000 and left it two and a half years later with 81 appearances and 26 goals to his name.
The 2023/24 season stood out. Edvardsen finished as Go Ahead Eagles' top scorer with 10 goals — seven in the Eredivisie and three in the KNVB Cup — across 35 appearances, and in December 2024 he scored a hat-trick against NEC Nijmegen.
Edvardsen's path to that point ran through several Norwegian clubs. He started out at Drøbak-Frogn before spells with Vålerenga's reserve side and Grorud, where he scored 10 goals in 16 appearances. Stabæk gave him his first extended run in senior football, from August 2019 to 2022, across the Eliteserien and 1. divisjon.
Internationally, Edvardsen's involvement has so far been limited to three caps for Norway's under-16 side in 2015; he has not yet made his senior debut.
