Oscar Verhoeven

Verhoeven came up through San Jose's academy and signed as a Homegrown Player in May 2023. His MLS debut came on 21 July 2024 against Minnesota United, followed by nine league appearances and a single outing in the US Open Cup.

The move to San Diego, initially a loan worth $100,000 in General Allocation Money plus a sell-on percentage, was significant. His first season as a regular starter ended early: a lower-body injury picked up in late July 2025 kept him out for the rest of the campaign and the MLS play-offs. He returned for the 2026 season and has made 17 appearances so far.

Internationally, Verhoeven has represented the United States at youth level, winning silver at the 2023 CONCACAF Under-17 Championship and playing at the Under-17 World Cup the same year, on top of caps for the Under-16 and Under-20 sides. He has not yet been called up to the senior national team.
