Rodrigo Martins

Rodrigo Martins arrived at Lusitânia Lourosa in the summer of 2025 as a free agent on a one-season deal, the latest stop in a career built almost entirely on short spells and free transfers. Since leaving Estoril Praia by mutual consent in January 2024, the midfielder has moved on a free every time: to Portimonense, where he made eight or nine Primeira Liga appearances without scoring, then to Leixões after several months without a club, and now to Lusitânia Lourosa.

At Lourosa he has settled into the side's Liga Portugal 2 campaign, making 17 appearances and playing 709 minutes, with one goal to his name in the 2025/26 season. The results around him have been mixed: a 1-0 win over Torreense, a 2-2 draw with his former club Leixões, but also a 0-4 defeat to Marítimo in January 2026 and a 3-2 loss to another former club, Portimonense, in April.

Born in Faro, Martins came through the youth ranks at Estoril Praia before starting his senior career at GS Loures in 2017. From there he passed through Cova Piedade, Sporting Covilhã and Mafra, the club whose form persuaded Estoril to sign him in 2022 on a contract running to 2025. He has never been capped by Portugal at any level, and his career so far has brought no major trophies or individual honours — a path defined instead by steady movement between clubs in the lower reaches of Portuguese football.
