Sebastian Tounekti

Sebastian Tounekti's route to Celtic began far from Glasgow, on the pitches of Tromsdalen UIL in northern Norway, where he made his senior debut in 2018. Two years later he signed for Bodø/Glimt, and won the Eliteserien title with the club in 2020. He featured five times in the league the following season before a loan to FC Groningen took him out of Norway for the rest of the campaign; Bodø/Glimt retained their title that year, with Tounekti credited among the champions despite having left before the season closed.

A move to Haugesund followed in August 2022, interrupted by a loan to Ranheim in 2023. That year also brought a dispute with Haugesund, who turned down interest from Raków Częstochowa and kept hold of a player who had made clear his frustration at being denied a move. He eventually left Norway for Hammarby in February 2025, before Celtic paid a reported fee in the region of £5.2 million to £5.5 million for him in September 2025.

He opened his account for Celtic on 21 September 2025, scoring in a 4-0 Scottish League Cup win over Partick Thistle, and went on to win the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup in his first season at the club. Of Tunisian and Norwegian parentage, Tounekti chose to represent Tunisia, making his senior debut against Mauritania in October 2021. A thigh injury sustained in 2025 kept him out of that year's Africa Cup of Nations, but he recovered to make his World Cup debut against Sweden in June 2026.
