Hyun-Jun Yang

Yang Hyun-jun arrived at Celtic in the summer of 2023 on the back of a season that had already made him the standout young player in South Korean football: in 2022 he had taken both the K League 1 Young Player of the Year award and the Korean FA's equivalent prize, having come through at Gangwon FC. He signed with Celtic for a reported fee of around £2.15 million, with Gangwon retaining a sell-on clause on any future transfer.

Since moving to Scotland, Yang has been a regular contributor to a period of sustained success at Celtic Park. He has won three Scottish Premiership titles, the Scottish Cup twice and the League Cup once, and was named the club's Young Player of the Year as well as winner of the Goal of the Year award for the 2025-26 season.

Yang made his debut for South Korea in September 2023, in a friendly against Wales, and has since earned caps at the Asian Cup, where he made two substitute appearances during the 2023 tournament. All of his senior appearances for South Korea to date have come from the bench. He was also part of the South Korea squad named for the 2026 World Cup. At under-23 level, he was part of the side that won the WAFF U-23 Championship in 2024.
