Šimun Hrgović

In the summer of 2024, Šimun Hrgović was linked with a move to the Eredivisie. Talks with Twente had reached their final stage before the move collapsed over Hajduk's additional financial demands, which the Dutch club judged unacceptable. Twente signed Aske Adelgaard and Krzysztof Kurowski instead. In July that year, Hrgović extended his contract in Split until the summer of 2028.

He was born in Vukovar and started out locally, at HNK Radnički Vukovar until 2013 and then in NK Cibalia's academy, before joining Hajduk's youth system in 2019. He won the Croatian youth championship with Hajduk in 2021/22.

The professional career began in 2023 with a loan to Solin in the Prva NL, where he played 16 matches. Hajduk recalled him in October, with coach Karo Garaglan bringing him back because of injuries elsewhere in the squad, among them Dario Melnjak. Hrgović was handed his debut on 12 November 2023 against Varaždin, coming on for Ismaël Diallo in the 75th minute of a 3–1 win.

Nine appearances followed that season. In 2024/25 he became a regular, playing 30 matches with five assists, and in 2025/26 he made 36 appearances, four of them in the Conference League. He was nominated for the SuperSport HNL Young Player of the Season award in 2025/26; it went to Luka Stojkolić.

In the 2026/27 Conference League qualifiers, Hrgović opened the scoring in the 31st minute of Hajduk's 3–0 home win over Minsk and set up Rokas Pukštas. Ten matches into the current season he has one goal and one assist.
