Thomas Claes

Thomas Claes came through the KRC Genk academy, joining the club's youth setup in 2010 and staying there through his entire development. He made his professional debut for Jong Genk, the club's reserve side, in August 2022, and went on to make 67 appearances for the team over three seasons, eventually taking on the captaincy. His first professional goal came in August 2023 against Francs Borains, and he also found the net twice in the UEFA Youth League during the 2022/23 campaign.

Genk promoted him to the first team in May 2024 and extended his contract to 2028, though his senior debut did not arrive until May 2025, against KAA Gent. Claes moved on that summer, joining SV Zulte Waregem on a permanent deal running to 2028.

Claes has established himself as a starter in midfield for Zulte Waregem, appearing in the majority of the club's league fixtures so far this season alongside cup outings. He opened his scoring account for the club against OH Leuven in September and has also set up a goal in a match against Gent.

Internationally, Claes has represented Belgium at youth level, with call-ups at U15, U20 and U21. He wears the number 8 at Zulte Waregem.
