V. Prince

Wouter Prins is a product of FC Groningen's own academy, having joined the club's youth ranks in 2015 at the age of 11 and worked his way up through every level of the system. By the 2022/23 season he was playing for the club's under-21 side, and just over a year later he stepped up to the first team, coming on as a substitute in the 67th minute against De Graafschap in the Eerste Divisie. He signed his first professional contract shortly afterwards, initially running until the summer of 2027.

Prins has never worn another club's shirt. His entire development, from schoolboy football in Winschoten to the senior squad, has taken place inside Groningen, and that continuity was rewarded again in November 2025, when the club extended his deal by a further year to 2028. He featured for the first team throughout the 2023/24 campaign in the Eerste Divisie and stayed involved as Groningen returned to the Eredivisie the following season, playing as a left-back for the side.

For a defender still early in his senior career, the shape of his story so far is straightforward: a long academy apprenticeship and a debut off the bench. What comes next, in terms of a settled place in the Eredivisie side, is still being written.
