Al Mesaimeer

Al-Sailiya Stadium seats 3,000, and Al-Mesaimeer plays there rather than at its own ground because that facility lacks the capacity and infrastructure to host matches. The club had built a home of its own after settling in the Mesaimeer district in 2000, when it put up a 36,000 square metre complex with two pitches.

The club did not start out under either name. It formed unofficially in 1996 as Al-Nahda, in the Al-Maamoura district of Doha, and only became a properly constituted body in 1998, when Sheikh Jasim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, then Heir Apparent, and the Qatar Olympic Committee re-founded it as Al-Shoala. The move to Mesaimeer four years later gave the club a new base, and by 2004 the name had changed again, this time to tie it to the neighbourhood it had adopted.

Promotion came in the 2014–15 season, when the club finished second in the Second Division under manager Yousef Adam and reached the Qatar Stars League for the first time. It had already won that same division outright in 2001. The top flight has not brought a trophy, and the club's best run in the Amir Cup stopped at the Round of 16 in 2020–21.

Almoez Ali, who would go on to become Qatar's all-time leading scorer and the Golden Boot winner at the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, started out here as a seven-year-old in 2003 before Aspire Academy took him on and his path led eventually to Al-Duhail.

Against Muaither, Al-Mesaimeer has had the sharper end of things, including a 1-0 win in the Second Division Cup final, while Al Shamal and Al Kharaitiyat have supplied the recurring battles for position further down the football pyramid.
