Muaither SC

Muaither SC came up from the Second Division to win the Sheikh Jassim Cup in 2003, beating Al-Wakrah 2–1 in the final and becoming the first club outside the top flight to lift it. Everything since has followed the same rhythm: up one year, down the next. They reached the Qatar Stars League in 2013 when the league expanded and were relegated straight back the following season. The pattern repeated after their 2016 Second Division title, and again after promotion in 2023, which ended in relegation in 2024 following a last-place finish.

Along the way the club has kept adding to a modest cabinet: the Second Division title itself twice, in 2015–16 and 2022–23, and the Second Division Cup in 2018–19 against Al Markhiya. None of it has translated into a settled place among Qatar's leading sides, but the club has produced six players who went on to represent the national team, according to club president Saleh Al-Ajji.

Foreign players have passed through in spells rather than careers. Algerian defender Nadir Belhadj, who had played at Lyon, finished his playing days at Muaither in 2022. Brazilian winger Wilsinho did the same in 2016. Saudi forward Mohammad Al-Sahlawi spent 2021 there, and Iranian international Mehrdad Pooladi arrived a year earlier.

The club plays under a name it did not start with. Founded in 1996 as Al Shabab, it took its current identity in 2004 after Qatar's Olympic Committee ordered clubs to be renamed for the districts they represent, tying it to the Muaither area of Al Rayyan. The nickname that stuck, Al Kahilan, means "the camel."
