Arlanda

For years the club skated under a name the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority would not let it keep. Arlanda Wings had taken its identity from the airport looming over Märsta, but in 2008 the LFV ruled that no club could carry the "Arlanda" name at all, and the team became Wings HC Arlanda.

The name had already changed twice by then. What began as Arlanda HC in 1963 merged with Rosersbergs IK a decade later to form RA 73, reverted to Arlanda HC in 1992, then turned into Arlanda Wings around 2007 before the aviation authority stepped in. Through all of it the club stayed put in Sigtuna Municipality, just north of Stockholm, and kept its blue, gold and silver.

The strongest run came earlier: from 1975 to 1999 Arlanda held its place in the second tier, then known as Allsvenskan, a quarter-century at that level for a club from Sigtuna. Christer Persson sits atop the club's scoring lists from those years, the name still cited when older supporters talk about what the team once was. More recently, the 2018-19 season brought the Hockeytvåan Östra A title and promotion.

Home games are played at Pinbackshallen, a rink that holds 1,220. Wings now sit in Hockeyettan, the third tier, still producing players who move on — Niclas Hävelid and the Huusko brothers among those who came through the club before it changed its name for the last time. The fixture that still matters most is against Vallentuna Hockey, close enough geographically that neither side needs reminding it is a derby.
