«The Green-Reds»
Magdeburg's football name belongs to 1. FC Magdeburg, and everything else in the city plays in its shadow.
The club that runs the U19 side began in June 1953 as a works team and spent the German Democratic Republic years as BSG Motor Magdeburg-Süd. That name lasted until 10 June 1991, when the BSG was wound up and the members re-formed as SV Arminia '53 Magdeburg. The green and red survived the change; the Grün-Roten kept the tag they had carried through the old league.
What Arminia won, it won at home. The Magdeburg City Cup came four times — 1974, 1975, 1981 and 1986 — in a city competition against neighbours who are still neighbours. There is nothing above that on the honours board, and the senior side now plays in the sixth tier, the Lotto-Landesliga Nord Sachsen-Anhalt.
The junior sections run from the smallest age group up to the A-Juniors, which is where this side sits, inside a membership of around 400. Arminia is a partner club of 1. FC Magdeburg, and Til Heitzmann took that road, leaving for the professional academy and staying there from 2018 to 2022.
The 2,000-capacity ground and the artificial surface are the club's whole plant.
