The under-19s went into the 2025/26 season with a cup run that took them to the semi-finals of the DFB-Juniorenpokal , the German youth cup — when they reached the final and lost 0-3 to Eintracht Braunschweig. That defeat remains the highest the team has climbed in the competition.
Jena's youth football sits inside a club whose best years belong to another state. Three East German league titles came between 1963 and 1970, and the run to the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup final in 1981 is still the outer edge of what the name has achieved in Europe. The players coming through now inherit the badge rather than the trophies.
Closer to hand is the Thüringen-Pokal , the regional cup, won again in 2026 with a 1-0 over ZFC Meuselwitz. That was a sixteenth title.
Robert Enke began at Jena before the goalkeeping career that took him elsewhere; the academy still trades on that.
