What began on frozen ponds in the village of Lazy became KČT Lazy in 1931, then followed the miners: when the Antonín Zápotocký Coal Mine relocated in 1966, the club moved with it into the new city of Havířov and took the name TJ AZ Havířov.
Second-tier hockey has been the more constant home. The club won the old 2. ČNHL in 1991/92 and has taken the modern 2. liga three times, most recently in 2025/26.
