Jastrzebie

Jastrzębie's one Ekstraliga title still came in the middle of a decade that otherwise belonged to others: in 2021 JKH GKS Jastrzębie beat Comarch Cracovia 4–1 in the final, a first championship after finishing runner-up twice, in 2012/13 and 2014/15, and the club also took the Visegrád Cup in 2020.

None of that was guaranteed by how the club started. Ice hockey in Jastrzębie-Zdrój began in 1963 as one section of the multi-sport club Górnik Jas-Mos, and a rename to GKS Jastrzębie in 1970, then a full break-up of the parent club in 1990 that left the hockey side to carry on as KKS Zofiówka, named for the local coal mine.

Leszek Laszkiewicz, the club's all-time leading scorer, played through much of that rebuilding and later became general manager, while Mateusz Bryk came through the same academy into the Polish national side.
