Fredrikstad Women

Kari Brattset spent years between the posts for the Norwegian national team, and before that she kept goal for Fredrikstad BK. The team itself came together on 12 September 2001, when the senior women's sections of Torp IF and Lisleby Håndball merged; for the season before that, the side had already been playing together under the joint name Torp/Lisleby.

Since then Fredrikstad has spent more time moving between divisions than settling in one. Promotion to the Eliteserien came in 2004, relegation followed in 2009, and the club returned to the top flight in 2017 and stayed there. A quarter-final run in the Norwegian Cup in 2021 remains among the better lines on the record, alongside three appearances in the EHF European League.

No Norwegian Championship, no league title — those have gone elsewhere. Fredrikstad remains the only top-division side from Østfold county, which leaves it competing against distance as much as against opponents.

The current squad has carried through internationals such as Jenny Sandgren in goal and the Rushfeldt Deila sisters, Thale and Live, both capped for Norway. Home matches are played at what is now called Installatøren Arena, renamed in 2024 after Kongstenhallen took on a new sponsor.
