Oppsal Women

Trasopphallen sits inside Oppsal Arena in Oslo, rebuilt and reopened as the venue's main hall, and it is where the club's flagship team now plays: the women's side, competing in the REMA 1000-ligaen after winning promotion in the 2022–23 season. That climb had a rehearsal a decade earlier, when the same team won the 1. Divisjon in 2012 and went up for the first time.

The handball section traces to 1946, growing out of Oppsal Idrettsforening, the wider sports club founded in Oslo in 1912. For much of its history the identity ran the other way: it was the men's team that carried the name, winning the Norwegian Championship five times through the 1970s, in 1971, 1973, 1976, 1978 and 1979, and taking the indoor cup in 1973 with a 23–14 final win over Bækkelaget SK. Roger Hverven played through that era, earning 52 caps for Norway and a place on the 1972 Olympic squad. The men's team has since dropped into the lower divisions, and the women have taken over as the club's leading side, having already put their own name on the outdoor championship back in 1964.

Blue is the club's colour, worn since the handball section split off as its own entity within the alliance in 2005. Across Oslo, Vålerenga Håndball supplies the fixture that still gets marked on the calendar first, a derby with no love lost between neighbouring clubs. Among the women's team's own recent players, Linn Jørum Sulland spent three seasons at Oppsal before moving on, one name among a squad that has rebuilt itself around the top flight it fought twice to reach.

It is that arena, rebuilt and standing on Vetlandsveien, that ties the two eras together — the ground where a men's side once collected championships now hosting a women's team on its own way up.
