Byåsen Women

Ida Alstad's number 11 has not been reissued at Byåsen since she wore it.

Byåsen Håndball Elite grew out of Byåsen Idrettslag, the Trondheim multi-sport club founded in 1921, but the handball side did not become its own legal entity until 16 February 2000.

The honours themselves cluster in two spells rather than spreading evenly across the club's history. Four Norwegian Championships came in 1988, 1989, 1991 and 2007, and five NM Cups in 1980, 1981, 1982, 1991 and 2007 — the 1991 and 2007 seasons standing out as the two in which Byåsen took both titles in the same year. Nothing has been added since.

They play at Kolstad Arena, which holds 2,500, and move to the larger Trondheim Spektrum when a fixture against Molde HK draws a crowd the home ground cannot take — Molde being the rival most likely to fill it, in a rivalry built less on geography than on the two clubs trading Norwegian titles between them.

Alstad remains the name the club is built around: a local product who stayed long enough, and mattered enough, that Byåsen took her number out of circulation rather than hand it to whoever came next.
