Home matches are played at the Batlama Hüseyin Avni Alparslan Sports Hall, a hall of just over 3,100 seats — 2,557 fixed, the rest telescopic.
Giresunspor itself dates back to 1925, refounded in 1967 out of a merger of three local clubs, Yeşiltepespor, Akıngençlikspor and Beşiktaşspor. It only began competing seriously around 2020, after taking over the playing rights from a local association side. What followed was a run to the quarter-finals of the play-offs in the second tier in 2024-2025 was enough to earn the Turkish Handball Federation's attention, and a wild card took the team straight into the Men's Handball Super League. In their first season there, 2025-2026, they went on to qualify for the EHF European Cup.
Gökhan Kolukısaoğlu manages the side that made that jump.
None of that has yet brought a Super League or Cup title back to Giresun.
