Haverfordwest County AFC

Haverfordwest County go into this JD Cymru Premier season as a semi-professional outfit still shaped by the rebuild that began under Rob Edwards, who took over as chairman in 2020. A former Leeds United and Wales player, Edwards pushed through the modernisation that has carried the club's public face in recent years, including the redevelopment tied to the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium, as the 2,000-capacity ground on the edge of the town is now known after a sponsorship deal renamed what had simply been Bridge Meadow.

The Bluebirds' name has not always matched their history. The club started out in 1899 as Haverfordwest Football Club, became Haverfordwest Town two years later, and took the name Haverfordwest Athletic in 1936 when it joined the Welsh Football League. Haverfordwest County only arrived in the mid-1950s, adopted after the club won the league for the first time.

Sean Pemberton is the name attached to that era of progress on the pitch: a captain who gave the club close to a decade of service and led it up to the top flight twice. Cup football has been kinder in patches than in volume — the deepest run in the Welsh Cup came in 2004-05, when Haverfordwest reached the semi-final. More recently, Jazz Richards brought a senior Wales cap to the squad after joining in 2021, while Alhagi Touray Sisay top-scored for the club the following season.

Tony Pennock has been in charge as head coach since 2022, working with a squad built around that mix of experience and local development.
