Cardiff Met

Cyncoed Stadium sits on the university's own sports campus in the north of Cardiff, and it holds 1,620 people, of whom 510 sit.

A side representing Cardiff College of Education entered the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1964, and over the next half-century the name changed almost every time the college did: South Glamorgan Institute in 1979, Cardiff Institute of Higher Education in 1990, then a merger with Inter Cardiff in 2000 that produced UWIC Inter Cardiff. It became Cardiff Met in 2012, when the university took that title.

The climb through the Welsh Football League came in stages that read like a ladder: Division Three in 2012–13, Division Two the following season, then Division One in 2015–16 and promotion to the top flight. Forty years earlier the same club had won that Division One title, in 1975–76, alongside the last of three Welsh Amateur Cups. Between those two seasons lies most of the club's existence.

The one trophy of the modern era arrived in January 2019, when the Archers beat Cambrian & Clydach Vale 2–0 in the Nathaniel MG Cup final. They had lost the final the season before to The New Saints, and would lose another in 2021–22 to Connah's Quay Nomads on penalties, 10–9, after a goalless match. Fourth place in 2022–23 remains their highest league finish, and three Welsh Cup semi-finals their deepest cup runs.

Whoever plays here is passing through. The students graduate, and the club keeps the shirt.
