GAP Connah S Quay FC

Connah's Quay Nomads go into this season carrying the weight of being the club Cymru Premier sides most want to knock off top spot. They play their football under a name that has barely stoped changing shape: founded in July 1946 by T. G. Jones, a Welsh defender who had played for Everton, the side started out as Connah's Quay Juniors before adopting Nomads in 1951, and later spent nine years, from 2008 to 2017, competing as Gap Connah's Quay under a sponsorship deal with a recruitment firm.

The double of 2019–20 and 2020–21 changed how the club is spoken about in Wales. The first of those titles came under unusual circumstances, awarded on a points-per-game basis after the season was cut short. Cup silverware has followed a similar pattern of returning rather than arriving once: the Welsh Cup was won in 2017–18 against Aberystwyth Town and again in 2023–24, this time past The New Saints, while the Welsh League Cup has been lifted three times, most recently in 2021–22 in a penalty shootout against Cardiff Met.

Home matches are played at the Essity Stadium, still known locally by its older name, Deeside Stadium. Red at home, yellow away — colours confirmed in April 2013 along with a new badge drawing on the heraldry of the old Connah's Quay Town club. The 1980–81 season stands out in the club's own telling: an unbeaten Clwyd League campaign that came with seven trophies collected across various competitions that year.
