De Herdgang sits on PSV's training complex, a working ground rather than a stadium built for crowds — 2,500 seats.

Jong PSV exists because the club needed a bridge between its academy and the first team, and in 2013 the Dutch football association gave that bridge a competitive edge. The arrangement still carries a limit: Jong PSV can finish top of the Eerste Divisie and it would change nothing, since the side has no right to promotion or to a place in the promotion play-offs. It plays for development, not for climbing.

The shirt matches the one worn at Philips Stadion — white with red and black — and the side is sometimes called Boerûh, an echo of the parent club's own nickname. Its honours belong to the era before 2013, when it competed only among reserve teams: four Beloften Eredivisie titles and three cup wins in that same junior competition, most of them collected in spells either side of the millennium. The one trophy from the professional era came far from home, in the 2022–23 Premier League International Cup, where Jong PSV beat Crystal Palace's under-21 side 3-1 after extra time in the final.

What the record does not show is a single trophy from the competition the team was actually built to play in. Since joining the Eerste Divisie in 2013, Jong PSV has never won it, and by its own terms, never could.
