KIF Örebro DFF

The 2010 Swedish Cup final gave the club a major trophy, and it did not come narrowly: Djurgården were taken apart 4–1. In the Damallsvenskan, by contrast, the title has never come.

For two seasons in the middle of the last decade the side in Örebro had a strange guest list. Pia Sundhage was in charge in 2004 and 2005, and the squad she picked from included Kristine Lilly, who holds the appearance record for the United States national team, alongside Kate Markgraf and Christie Welsh. American internationals of that standing passing through a Swedish club side were not a routine sight, and the arrangement lasted only as long as those two seasons.

The longest local presence belongs to Stina Segerström, the Sweden captain, who stayed from 2006 to 2015 — nine seasons in one shirt while the club changed name, emblem and division around her. The twins Maria and Kristin Hammarström, a midfielder and a goalkeeper, both took bronze at the 2011 World Cup.

Relegation to the Elitettan came in 2017; the top flight was regained in 2019, and lost again in 2024 after a thirteenth-place finish. Home matches are played at the Behrn Arena, formerly the Eyravallen, shared with the men's club Örebro SK, with the home kit red from shirt to socks.

None of it began as a club at all. A women's football section was set up in 1980 within Karlslunds IF, a multi-sport association founded in 1920. The name KIF Örebro DFF followed in 2005, and in 2021 the club adopted a new badge and colours, dropping the visual identity it had carried from Karlslund and standing as an association in its own right.
