Konskie

Every meeting with KSZO Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski carries a name of its own in Końskie — the Świętokrzyskie Derby, the Holy Cross Mountains fixture that settles regional bragging rights long before the league table does.

The town's handball section dates to 1968, set up inside Stal Końskie; a 1992 merger with Neptun Końskie produced MKS Końskie, and the club later settled on the name KSSPR Końskie it still carries. Supporters call the side Konie — Horses — a straight borrowing from the town's own name, worn on a yellow-and-black kit.

The season still talked about is 2000/2001, when KSSPR won the I Liga and went up to the Ekstraklasa. The top flight lasted one campaign: a 12th-place finish in 2001/2002 sent the club back down, with Michał Przybylski top-scoring that season on 149 goals.

The academy has kept producing national-team players since. Hubert Kornecki, capped at the 2017 World Championship, came through the Końskie youth ranks alongside his brother Mateusz, and Marian Panka's junior side added a Polish Championship of its own in 2003. Arkadiusz Bąk now holds the head coach's job, having taken over from Mirosław Curyła.

Tomasz Bodasiński's 179 goals, scored the following year as the I Liga's leading marksman, remain the highest single-season tally posted by anyone connected to the club.
