Kooteepee

The Arto Tolsa Areena in Kotka holds 4,780. FC KooTeePee played there through its whole existence, from 2000 until the end came in 2013.

The name itself was a piece of wordplay: it spelled out the vowels of KTP, the abbreviation of Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat, the older Kotka club founded in 1927 whose reserve side had split off to form this new, independent outfit. Supporters and local press picked up on the joke and called the team Vokaalit — the Vowels.

The early years moved fast. KooTeePee won its Kakkonen group in 2001, going up to Ykkönen unbeaten under Pasi Rautiainen, then reached Veikkausliiga the following season under Ismo Lius. Finland's top flight held the club from 2003 to 2008, with an eighth-place finish in 2005 as the high point before relegation in 2008, when KooTeePee finished bottom.

Cup football brought the club closest to a trophy. In 2006 KooTeePee reached the Liigacup final and lost 2–1 to KuPS. Three years earlier, a Finnish Cup run had ended in a semi-final penalty shootout against HJK Helsinki after a 1–1 draw. Off the pitch, the club's supporters were recognised by Veikkausliiga in 2004 for the best backing in the league.

The 2009–2013 spell in Ykkönen produced one more decent finish, third place in 2013. That December, FC KooTeePee merged with KTP; the old KTP, by then playing in Kakkonen, was dissolved, and KooTeePee took back the name FC KTP.
