The Andersson family is the clearest case. Mikael Andersson went on to play 786 games in the NHL and earned 47 caps for Sweden; his brother Niklas played 165 NHL games and was capped 52 times. Per-Johan Axelsson, capped 48 times for Sweden, came through the same system.
Kungälvs IK sits in the lower tiers of Swedish hockey, in Hockeyettan and Hockeytvåan, and its strongest senior season on record is 1989/90, when the team won 27 of 28 matches in its Division 3 series and reached the promotion playoffs.
Between 1978 and 1995 the club did not exist under its own name at all, having merged with Ytterby HK and Torsby IK to form Kungälv/Ytterby HK. It reverted to Kungälvs IK in 1995 and has played since out of Oasen, a 750-seat rink shared with the local swimming hall.
