Maidenhead

Max Kilman left York Road for Wolverhampton Wanderers and later joined West Ham United. The club he came through began in October 1870 as Maidenhead Football Club; the name changed in 1919, after a merger with Maidenhead Norfolkians forced by the losses of the First World War, and with it came the black-and-white stripes and the nickname the Magpies.

For most of a century that followed, honours came from county and step-below competitions — the Spartan League, the Corinthian League, the Isthmian League Full Members Cup — and from the Berks & Bucks Senior Cup, which the club has won more than twenty times. None of it carried the club into the National League until 2016–17, when the National League South title finally did.

Promotion held for eight seasons, before relegation back to the National League South at the end of 2024–25. In between, Danilo Orsi scored 19 goals in a single campaign, and Shawn McCoulsky spent three years leading the line before leaving in 2025.

York Road sits close to the town centre and still holds 4,500, only 550 of them seated. The fixture against Slough Town draws the sharpest interest of any on the calendar, known locally as the SL Classico; Hungerford Town and Hayes & Yeading United fill out the shorter list of rivalries.

The Berks & Bucks Senior Cup has been won 22 times.
