Malvern Town FC

Football returned to Malvern once the war ended, and 1946 gave the town a club of its own to carry it. The 4,000-capacity ground had been Langland Stadium.

The nickname is newer than it looks: "The Hillsiders" was only settled on officially in 2016, after digging into the club's own past, and the sky blue, claret and white kit followed in 2020, pieced together from old strips.

The Worcestershire Senior Urn has come back to Malvern eight times between the 1970s and 2015. The step above has been harder to reach and hold: the Midland Combination title in 1955–56 and the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division in 2003–04 stand as the closest the club has come to a wider stage, until 2022–23 brought them level again, when a runners-up finish in the Hellenic League Premier Division was turned into promotion through an inter-step play-off win over Highworth Town. Darren Bullock passed through on his way to a Football League career at Huddersfield Town, Swindon Town and Bury, while David Jenkins arrived at the other end of his, bringing First Division experience from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur to a Malvern side much smaller than the ones he'd left behind.

None of that carries the weight of the derby with Worcester Raiders, the fixture Malvern's supporters mark out from the rest of the fixture list, the one where history between the two adds an edge no league table can.
