Modbury Jets

Football in the northern suburbs of Adelaide grew out of the housing that spread across Modbury in the 1960s, and the club that formed there in 1964 waited a season before putting a team on the park. It played its first matches in 1965 under a plainer name; the Jets tag arrived only in 1993.

What the club has actually collected sits in the divisions below the top. A Third Division title came in 1973, then Second Division championships in 1985, 1998 and 2019. The one trophy that cut across the tiers was the Federation Cup in 1989.

Twice at the turn of the century they reached a First Division Grand Final, in 2000 and again in 2001, and lost both. The longest wait ended differently: in 2023 they made the NPL South Australia Grand Final and met Adelaide United.

More has left Modbury than has stayed. The club has also sent Jacob Melling and Aaron Goulding to an Australia under-17 World Cup squad.

The seniors play at Smith Partners Stadium on Golden Grove Road in Ridgehaven, known around the club simply as Jets Park.
