The München calendar features the Oberbayern-Derby, when Red Bull München meet ERC Ingolstadt, alongside matches against Augsburger Panther and the Straubing Tigers. The club took the ice as HC München 98 — Red Bull GmbH did not buy in until 2013, renaming a team that had already passed through two other identities.

The climb had a hinge point in 2010, when the club won the 2. Bundesliga and the DEB-Pokal in the same year and stepped up into the Deutsche Eishockey Liga. Six years passed before the first Bavarian championship parade, but once it started, it kept going: German titles in 2016, 2017, 2018 and again in 2023.

Patrick Hager has been present for most of that run, captain of the side and holder of the club's all-time appearance and points records.

The Champions Hockey League final remains the gap in the record: four domestic titles have not yet been matched by a continental one.
