Pardubice Dynamo

Vilém Weiss put together a hockey team for the railway workers of Pardubice in 1923 and named it LTC — Lokomotivní tělovýchovný klub — after the trade it served. The name kept changing with the times that followed: Slavia in 1950, Dynamo two years later, Tesla for three decades once the electronics firm took over as sponsor, HC Pardubice from 1991, and Dynamo again from 2015.

Locals had already settled on their own name for the club: Perníkáři, the gingerbread men, a nod to the trade the town has been known for since the Middle Ages.

Three championships came under the Tesla name, the first in 1973 and the last in 1989, in the old Czechoslovak league. Four more followed once Czech hockey ran its own Extraliga, the latest sealed in 2026.

The academy's name is tied above all to one goaltender. Dominik Hašek came through it, and Pardubice has kept his number 9 out of circulation ever since.

Games against Mountfield HK, up the road in Hradec Králové, are billed as the Východočeské derby, and neither side treats them as a routine league fixture.

Lukáš Sedlák now wears the captain's armband for a squad defending that 2026 Extraliga title while also playing in the Champions Hockey League.
