Newington Youth

Newington open the 2026/27 season back at Solitude, the 3,054-seat ground they last called home before three years spent sharing Inver Park with Larne. Cliftonville and Newington agreed a fresh ground-share ahead of this campaign, ending that stretch. The return comes with the club in the NIFL Championship, a place secured in 2022 after winning the Premier Intermediate League.

The 'Ton, as the league lists them, play in green and white. Their honours sit mostly in amateur and junior football: five Northern Amateur League titles taken between 2006 and 2013, the Irish Junior Cup in 1997, and the Steel & Sons Cup twice, in 2018 and 2022.

In 2012, still playing well below the senior divisions, Newington travelled to Glentoran of the Premiership for an Irish Cup fifth-round tie and won 1-0. The goal came from Neil Quinn, a player from the Newington area itself, against a club many levels above his own.

The club was formed there, in north Belfast, in 1979, first as Jubilee Olympic FC. It took the Newington name in 1986.
