Rugby Club Orléans plays in a region with no obvious tribal enemy. What has driven the club instead is its own climb: three promotions in four years, capped by a 34-17 win over CS Vienne on 31 May 2026 that sealed the Nationale de France 2 title and lifted Les Orléanais into Nationale, French rugby's third tier, for the first time.

The rise has outpaced the ground built for slower days. Stade Marcel-Garcin holds 1,740, and since December 2025 the club has shifted some fixtures to the Stade de la Source, which seats up to 6,000. Thierry Lacroix, the former France fly-half, has run rugby operations since 2019; two decades earlier, Jacques Fouroux, once the national team's own coach, spent a season as general manager.

Founded in 1966, Orléans had spent most of its history in the lower divisions. The current squad carries the same colours, black with yellow and red stripes, but a different ambition: a top-six finish in the first Nationale season, and a stated target of reaching Pro D2 by 2030. Philip Wokorach, the Ugandan international winger who joined in 2024, finished as Nationale 2's top scorer on the way up.

What Orléans still lacks is an opponent to measure itself against by habit rather than table position.
