Mont-de-Marsan

Guy Boniface never saw the stadium that carries his name; he died in a car crash in 1968, four years after playing prop for Mont-de-Marsan alongside his brother André at centre. Together they gave the club its identity during what locals still call the Golden Age, a run from 1946 to 1972 built on an attacking style people here called champagne rugby. It produced one league title, in 1963, when Mont-de-Marsan beat US Dax 9–6 in the final.

Three straight wins in the Challenge Yves du Manoir between 1960 and 1962 came from the same generation of players. Les Abeilles, as the club is known for its yellow and black stripes, have spent the decades since bouncing between divisions, promoted through Pro D2 in 1999 and 2002 and again via the Fédérale 1 title in 2007, then dropped out of Top 14 in 2010 and 2013.

Thomas Castaignède came through here before winning 59 caps for France, one of a handful of internationals the club can point to alongside Christian Darrouy and Benoît Dauga, who later became club president. Fijian flair arrived later through Waisale Serevi and Viliame Satala, both of whom played their rugby in Mont-de-Marsan colours. The most recent drop, out of Pro D2 at the end of the 2025–26 season, cost the club an estimated €3 million in revenue.

The Stade André-et-Guy-Boniface now holds 12,212 people, after a new stand added 2,700 seats in 2023–24.
