RB Leipzig U19

The fixture that matters most to RB Leipzig's under-19s is not in the Bundesliga table at all: it is the Stadtduell against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig U19. In March 2023 it turned on a single goal, RB winning 1-0 in the Sachsenpokal quarter-final, and results against Dynamo Dresden U19 and Hansa Rostock U19 in the Bundesliga Nord/Nordost carry their own weight for the same reason.

The team has been part of the club's structure since RasenBallsport Leipzig came into being in 2009, working through the A-Junioren-Bundesliga and the DFB Junioren-Pokal off the same badge the first team wears. Its high-water mark came in the 2018/19 season, when it reached the final of the DFB-Pokal der Junioren and lost 1-2 to VfB Stuttgart.

What the academy has produced instead is players: Lukas Klostermann arrived from VfL Bochum in 2014, went through this side, and is now a fixture for both Leipzig's senior team and Germany. Sebastian Heidinger coached the side through 2025/26 before Marc Heidenmann took over.
