Perla Ruth Albertsdóttir came home to Selfoss in June 2023 and, alongside Katla María Magnúsdóttir, finished the following season as the side's top scorer.

The women's section only took shape in 2011, grafted onto Ungmennafélag Selfoss, a club whose other sports trace back to 1936. Handball in Selfoss burgundy has since carried the odd Serbian, Swedish, Montenegrin or Croatian name through a single season — Dijana Radojević in 2016-17, Cornelia Hermansson in goal in 2023-24, Ivana Raičković and Lara Zidek arriving together in 2020.

No league title has come yet, nor the national cup. The one piece of silverware on record is the Ragnarsmót, an invitational tournament, won in 2024. It is a modest line to point to, but it is the club's own.

Selfoss play in front of no more than 800 at Sethöllin, in burgundy and white. For now, staying competitive in the top flight is the task in front of them.
