Slovan Bratislava HC

What began in 1921 as a hockey section inside the 1st ČsŠK Bratislava sports club took its current name only in 1948, by which point the city already had a team worth calling its own.

No Slovak club has won more Extraliga titles than Slovan's nine, stretched from 1998 to a 2022 championship that came after the club's return from a difficult stretch abroad. Between 2012 and 2019 Slovan played in the Kontinental Hockey League, a venture that left it with debts serious enough to force a withdrawal back to the domestic league after the 2018–19 season.

Richard Kapuš remains the name attached to the club's scoring record, 499 points across 583 games between 1990 and 2011. Miroslav Šatan's connection to Slovan ran differently: he turned out for the club during the 2004–05 NHL lockout, then came back to captain the side to the 2012 title.
