Two Slovak Cup runs define ŠK Šoporňa : in 2020–21 it went past FC Pata on penalties to reach the second round, and it beat OFK Malženice and TJ Slavoj Boleráz to get to the third — a rare stretch of matches against clubs from outside the sixth tier where it normally plays.

That tier is the 5. liga Juh, one level below the 4. liga Západ the club has occupied in the past.

The one name attached to the club is Marek Gála, who started out in Šoporňa's goal in 2001–02 before a career that took him to FC Nitra and to a UEFA Cup medal with Artmedia Petržalka, and who now sits on the village council. Gála's continued presence in local affairs keeps the connection alive.

The fixture that matters locally is against FC Pata, on the other side of a single bridge.

Home games are played on natural grass at a ground with 1,200 capacity, 500 of it seated, with no floodlights and no running track — modest even by the standards of the 5. liga Juh.
