Home games in Liești run through the Stadionul Comunal, a communal ground owned by the town itself — capacity put at around 2,500, though some listings count closer to 2,000.

The honours case holds two Liga IV county titles, in 2011–12 and 2012–13, plus a county cup the same year the second of those was won. Doru Buciumeanu, now working as a fitness coach, was the man who took the team up to Liga III in 2013 — the level at which the club has stayed since.

That ceiling was tested hardest in 2024–25, when Sporting Liești reached the promotion play-offs and finished second, closest it has come to Liga II. A year earlier, in 2023–24, the play-offs had produced fourth place after a third-place regular season.

Cătălin Savu has run the first team since October 2022, a former player at Oţelul and Dunărea before he turned to coaching. His assistant, Cristian Brăneţ, kept goal in his playing days and won a Romanian title with Oţelul Galaţi.
