Teutonii Ghimbav

Teutonii Ghimbav go into their first season in the Liga Națională having never played above the second tier before. The club secured promotion in May 2026, finishing ahead of CSU Pitești and CSM Oradea in the Divizia A play-off, and now prepares to face Romania's established handball names for the first time.

The club itself dates only to 2023, when Ghimbav City Hall set it up as a multi-sport organisation for the town in Brașov County. There is no separate club website; what little is published runs through the city hall's own pages. The handball section started in Divizia A Seria B in the 2023-2024 season and reached the top flight inside three years.

Home matches are played at the Sala Sporturilor Ghimbav, where a new parquet floor was fitted during renovation work over the 2025-2026 close season, timed to have the hall ready for the step up in competition. A women's team followed the men's into Divizia A in 2024-2025, giving the club two senior sides inside its first two years.

Cătălin Vasilache coaches the first team, built around players such as pivot Alexandru Dedu. In the Cupa României the side reached the round of 16 in 2025-2026, the deepest cup run in the club's short history. Colours of orange and black mark the team out, worn under the nickname Teutonii.

What Ghimbav has not yet done is prove itself at this level: no matches played in the Liga Națională, no trophy beyond a single promotion, and a squad about to be tested against opponents with far longer top-flight histories.
