Tingsryd

A local association came first, in Tingsryd in September 1923, and it took another twenty-five years before hockey had a home there: Tingsryds IK merged into the parent club in May 1948, and the sport at Tingsryds AIF, known to everyone as Taif, dates from that point rather than the founding itself.

The club's one run in the top division came in the late 1960s and early 1970s, seven seasons of Division I hockey that produced two fifth-place finishes and, eventually, relegation when the league was restructured in 1975. Taif has bounced between the second tier and lower divisions since, promoted to HockeyAllsvenskan in 1999 and again in 2009/10, relegated once for tax fraud in 2002/03 and twice more on the ice. The closest it came to the very top was 2015/16, when it reached the HockeyAllsvenskan final and lost to AIK.

Kjell Samuelsson wore the jersey through the 1970s before a career that ended with a Stanley Cup in New Jersey, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson passed through the youth ranks in the mid-2000s on his way to the NHL. Neither result changes what the town sees on a Saturday night: matches against Troja/Ljungby and Nybro Vikings still get called the border feud, and the Green Brigade still fills its end at Nelson Garden Arena regardless of the division.

That ground, formerly Dackehallen, holds 3,400. Its replacement, due to open in September 2026, will hold 2,700.
