Vanuatu United

Freshwater Stadium seats 6,500 in Port Vila, and it was the ground the Vanuatu Football Federation pointed to when it needed a home for one of the eight charter clubs of the new OFC Professional League. The stadium is also known locally as VFF Freshwater Stadium.

The club itself only came together in August 2025, entering the league under the name Vanuatu FC. That lasted barely a month: on 11 September 2025 the federation renamed it Vanuatu United FC, saying the change was meant to reflect an ambition to unite football fans right across the country. The nickname that stuck was The Chiefs, and the kit followed the same idea — black with a tonal tribal pattern, red panels cut across it, and collar and cuffs picking out the black, red, yellow and green of the Vanuatu flag.

Lars Hopp, a German coach with a UEFA Pro License, took charge in October 2025 and led the side through its first full season in 2026. The knockout rounds told a different story: Vanuatu United fought their way to the semi-finals, and along the way beat Bula FC 2-1 after extra time in the quarter-final, with substitutes Azariah Soromon and Nicolas King scoring the equaliser and the winner. Alex Saniel finished the season as the club's top scorer with 11 goals.

No silverware came of it, and with the club barely a year old there is no rival yet to speak of — only the other charter sides, Hekari United and Bula FC among them, met so far in front of the crowd at Freshwater Stadium in Port Vila.
