Violette AC

The 1984 CONCACAF Champions' Cup came to Port-au-Prince without a final being played: the sides due to meet were disqualified, and Violette AC were declared the winners. Charles Vorbe was the coach that season, with Ralph Kernizan — a decade earlier a player in the side that took the Coupe Pradel — working with the squad as physical trainer.

The club had grown out of the capital long before that, taking the Coupe Borno four years running from 1927 and adding a first national championship in 1939. Nine league titles have followed in all.

Between the fifth and the eighth there was a long wait. Violette were relegated to the second division in 2016 and only returned to the Ligue Haïtienne for 2020; the Série d'Ouverture they won in 2020–21 ended a title drought of 22 years.

Stade Sylvio Cator has often been unavailable to them. Political instability, gang violence and the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake have pushed matches elsewhere — the 2022 Caribbean club campaign was played at Cibao FC's ground in Santiago de los Caballeros, in the Dominican Republic. In 2023 they knocked out Austin FC 3–2 on aggregate, Miche-Naider Chéry scoring twice, before León beat them 6–2 over two legs.

Games against Racing Club Haïtien, the Port-au-Prince derby, go back more than 80 years.

The name best known here is Philippe Vorbe, who played for the club between 1973 and 1975 and then spent more than 25 years on its coaching and sporting side. He was named the best player at the 1973 CONCACAF tournament, and at the 1974 World Cup he supplied the pass Emmanuel Sanon scored from against Italy. In 2018 he became the first Haitian inducted into the CONCACAF Hall of Fame.
