Zory Women

Mirosław Szczurek has coached at Żory since 1976. Roman Kamiński has been on the staff nearly as long, since 1971.

The club traces back to 1922, when it existed as TS Pogoń 1922 Żory, a name that only gave way to MTS Żory in 2005. The junior championship it won in 2003/2004, still under the old name, came in the Masters category, for players over 33.

Matches at home are played in front of blue and black shirts, and the ground on Folwarecka fits fewer than a thousand people between its seats and standing room. It is not a big place, but it has heard some sharp exchanges with KPR Ruch Chorzów, whom Żory meet in the Silesian Derby, and with UKS Start Pietrowice Wielkie in their own local derby.

The senior side reached the Ekstraklasa at one point, which made the collapse of 2014 harder to take: financial trouble dropped the club as far as the third tier, and rebuilding brought it back only as far as the second. A Polish Cup has never been won here, and the top division title has eluded Żory throughout its history.
