Johnston Park in West Wallsend sits where the old coal seams ran. William Johnston cleared the land in the early 1890s after leasing it from the Caledonian Coal Company, and the name stuck — or rather, the council did, correcting "Johnson" to "Johnston" once the spelling was settled. It was purchased by the club in 1930, and the ground has belonged to them ever since.

The place holds a memory from the 1920s, when the West Wallsend Bluebells fielded eight internationals and the locals started calling it "Wembley". When the club played in the Women's National Soccer League Grand Final in 1998–99, they kept knocking on the door against Canberra Eclipse with 852 watching. More recently, they snatched the 2023 HIT106.9 Northern League One title on penalties after drawing 1–1 with South Cardiff FC.

The playing surface is natural grass, a Grade 1 pitch that gives the ball its true roll. Tiered seating is available, though the capacity is a matter of counting. Football databases cite 1,000, while league tables and the Northern League One Wikipedia entry list it as 1,500. The council manages the ground, and it remains a working soccer field in a town defined by industry.

There is no artificial turf and no pitch heating. It does not host concerts or non-sporting incidents. It hosts football.
