Stadium
Stade Jean-Etcheberry
Vienne, France
Formerly: Champ de Manœuvres de l'Isle
The ground sits in the L’Isle district. It has been here since 1971, originally called Champ de Manœuvres de l’Isle. The name changed later, after Jean Etcheberry, who won a French championship with CS Vienne in 1937. The club still plays here, and the local rugby side fills the 8,000 seats on matchdays, which the club maintains through the winter, and it has never been rebuilt on any scale.
A common mistake is to confuse it with the bigger ground in Bayonne, but this one is quieter, closer to the river, and the wind comes straight down the boulevard in the afternoon.
