Real Tomayapo claimed a 2:1 victory over Real Oruro in the fifth round of the Professional Division Cup on Saturday night. The result ends a string of poor form for the home side, who had lost their previous three matches across all competitions. Real Oruro's away record continues to struggle despite controlling more of the game.
F. Nouet gave Tomayapo the lead in the fifth minute, but Real Oruro responded quickly. D. Pinto equalised two minutes later, and the opening half settled into a pattern where the visitors edged possession but failed to create clear chances. Yellow cards for both sides kept the physicality in check until the break.
The second half brought a flurry of substitutions from both managers. Real Tomayapo brought on C. Aguilera at the restart, while Real Oruro made three changes around the 69th minute as they pushed for a winner. The home side dropped deeper, and the game opened up for a late drama.
At 90+3 minutes, D. Robles appeared to have scored for Tomayapo, but the goal was cancelled by VAR. Three minutes later, the same player found the net, and this time the goal stood. The victory gave Real Tomayapo their first win in five matches, while Real Oruro's run of away defeats stretched to four.
The statistics told a different story to the result. Real Oruro enjoyed 53 per cent possession and launched 102 attacks compared to 75 for their opponents. Yet their shot accuracy sat at just 33 per cent, with only three shots on target producing nothing. Tomayapo's 47 per cent possession was wasted more efficiently, with five shots on target yielding two goals.
The result leaves Real Tomayapo with a fragile sense of momentum after a difficult run. Real Oruro remain without an away win this season, and the gap between their dominance in possession and their inability to finish will need addressing before the next group fixture.
